What types of personal information do we collect about MetLife Infinity users?
Personal information is information that identifies you. Likely situations when you make personal information available to the MetLife Entities in connection with the Service include but are not limited to when you: (i) download, install, register, or otherwise access the Service; (ii) upload documents, photos, videos or other content or information (“Content”) to the Service; (iii) tag Content you have uploaded to the Service; (iv) participate in any promotion or survey; (v) request technical support; and (vi) use the Service where personal information is required for use and/or participation. It is your responsibility to have or obtain adequate permission from any others for or about whom you upload personal information.
The types of personal information may vary depending on the type of activity you are engaged in. The personal information the MetLife Entities may collect and process includes, but is not limited to your name, screen/nick name, telephone number, e-mail address, phone number, photo or other image, birthdate, sex, address, connections, avatar image, credit card information, debit card information, checking account information, location, and any information you upload to the Service, including any metadata associated with items you upload and any Tagged Information (as defined in the Terms and Conditions). Your location information is collected through use of geolocation services only with your permission. Should you choose not to permit access to your location information through geolocation, not all MetLife Infinity features will be available to you.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If a parent or guardian becomes aware that his or her child has provided us with their information, that parent or guardian should contact us at email@example.com. We will delete any information obtained from a child under 13 within a reasonable time.
If you are under 13 years of age, you are not eligible to use or access the Service. The MetLife Entities take children’s privacy seriously, and encourages parents and/or guardians to play an active role in their children’s online experience at all times.
Information We Collect Through Technology, Including Cookies and Pixel Tags
To enhance our ability to serve you, we may collect information through technology, including, but not limited to, cookies and pixel tags.
Pixel tags are small pieces of data that are embedded in images and in e-mail communications. We use pixel tags to analyze usage patterns within the Service. This may involve transmitting information either directly to us or to another entity authorized by us to collect information on our behalf. We may also use pixel tags in Service-related e-mails to determine whether users have opened those e-mails or clicked on links in those e-mails.
How is your personal information used and shared?
We may use and disclose your personal information for any purpose allowed or required by law.
MetLife Infinity Activities and Updates
For example, we use and may disclose your personal information to:
provide you the Service
authenticate your identity
process your registration of and administer your account
analyze use of the Service
provide customer and technical support
further develop the Service and other products and services
respond to your information requests
send you newsletters and updates
provide you with additional materials that may be of interest, including materials marketing products provided through any of the MetLife Entities or through third-parties
for other everyday business purposes, such as product development
The Content in your MetLife Infinity Account (as such term is defined in the Terms and Conditions) will be visible to other users only as you choose, or as required by law, except that other users may be able to further share or to export or copy Content you share with them.
We will retain your data for as long as, you use the Service and for up to twenty-five years after we receive notice of your death according to the process defined in the MetLife Infinity App. If you would like for us to delete data you have provided, or that we have otherwise collected in relation to your downloading, registration, and use of the Service, e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will use reasonable efforts to comply within a reasonable time unless we are legally required to retain the information. Please note that some or all of your personal information may be necessary in order for the Service to function properly.
Purchase or Sale of Businesses
From time to time, we may purchase a business or sell one or more of our businesses and your personal information may be transferred as a part of the purchase or sale. If we sell a business, we will include provisions in the selling contract requiring the purchaser to treat your personal information in accordance with applicable law. The provisions of this paragraph will also apply if we are sold as part of bankruptcy proceedings.
Third Party Terms and Conditions
You further recognize and agree that the MetLife Entities are not liable for such third party terms and conditions and the third parties’ use of your personal information. The MetLife Entities may, in their discretion, make available links through advertisements or otherwise enable you to access third party products or services. Please note that while using such products or services, you are using products or services developed and administered by people or companies not affiliated with or controlled by MetLife. The MetLife Entities are not responsible for the actions of those people or companies, the content of their products or services, the use of information you provide to them, or any products or services they may offer. The fact that the MetLife Entities are linking to those products or services does not constitute our sponsorship of or affiliation with those people or companies.
The MetLife Entities follow generally accepted industry standards and maintain reasonable safeguards to attempt to ensure the security, integrity and privacy of the information in the MetLife Entities possession. Personal information collected by the MetLife Entities is stored in secure operating environments that are not available to the public. However, no system can be 100% secure and there is the possibility that despite the MetLife Entities’ reasonable efforts, there could be unauthorized access to your personal information. By using the Service, you assume this risk of such unauthorized access.
What kinds of security measures do we take to safeguard your personal information?
The security and confidentiality of your information is extremely important to us. That’s why we have technical, administrative, and physical security measures in place to protect your personal information from unauthorized access and improper use. For example, the parts of the Service that enable or require you to submit personal information online may use encryption to protect that information. We also review our security procedures periodically to consider appropriate new technology and updated methods. But, despite our reasonable efforts, no security measure is ever perfect or impenetrable.
